At Moreton Downs State School we pride ourselves on providing students the opportunity to participate in STEM challenges throughout the year. Over recent years, students have participated in the RoboCup Jnr and Sumo Competitions at other schools. Moreton Downs State School also hosts some amazing events with high student participation.
The ROBOlympics is a round robin competition where students compete against other teams from other schools in a variety of events. In 2018 the event gathered 28 teams of students from 7 schools to compete in 3 events: Ball Toss, Tug of War and Racing. It is an amazing opportunity for students to work as a team to program a robot and to create engineering solutions.
The Moreton Bay Video Game Challenge is a showcase of students game coding skills. Students can either work independently or as a team of 2 to create a video game on a particular theme using either Scratch or Kodu Game Lab software. In its 2nd year, the challenge brought together 40 students from 6 schools to demonstrate their coding abilities.
